With EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), Progroup relies on the demanding European environmental management system. EMAS supports companies in systematically identifying environmental aspects, measurably improving environmental performance, and implementing measures in a legally compliant manner. At the same time, it ensures transparency and credibility, as objectives, measures, and results are regularly verified by external auditors.
WHAT DOES EMAS MEAN?
EMAS is a voluntary environmental management system of the European Union and is considered particularly rigorous. It covers all the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14001 but goes beyond them: in addition to the continuous improvement of environmental performance, it focuses on transparency, comparability, and verified public reporting. EMAS can be applied across all industries and is internationally applicable.
For Progroup, environmental management is an integral part of responsible business practices. With EMAS certification, we create a standardized, cross-site framework to systematically manage and transparently present environmental goals, measures, and results. In the future, Progroup’s paper sites will be consolidated into a joint environmental statement as part of the EMAS multisite certification. This environmental statement will be updated regularly and validated by independent environmental verifiers.
The paper machine sites are integrated into the EMAS system as follows:
- Progroup Paper PM1 GmbH will be certified under EMAS for the first time as part of the multisite certification. The existing certifications according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 (since April 22, 2023) and DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 (since April 9, 2028) will be integrated into the EMAS certification.
- Progroup Paper PM2 GmbH has been registered under EMAS since July 25, 2008.
- Progroup Paper PM3 GmbH has been registered under EMAS since November 18, 2019.
ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT OF PROGROUP
In the following environmental statement, Progroup presents its key environmental aspects, environmental objectives, and measures, and documents the continuous improvement of environmental performance at its sites. It is part of the EMAS system, publicly accessible, and forms the binding basis for our environmental management.
