The hall, which is next door to PW05 and is connected directly via intralogistics, had become available after the highly successful cooperation with the previous partner came to an end. With Akarton, Progroup has now gained a powerful, growth-focused operator that will perform the further processing on site, thus completing the value chain at this location again.
With its new partner, Progroup is strengthening both the Schüttorf site and the growth and network of independent packaging manufacturers.
The packaging park principle – the colocation of corrugated sheetboard production and further processing – has been shown to work in practice. The key advantages of an integrated set-up include a stable supply of high-quality corrugated board sheets, rapid further processing, greater reliability of supply and a lower product carbon footprint.
Short distances accelerate processes, increase the level of flexibility in production and reduce logistics costs because there is no longer any need for trucks to transport products between the manufacturer and processor. This increase in efficiency, focus on the customer and sustainability will produce a greater level of competitiveness overall.
